  2. Jeff,

I installed the TGSP about 11 days ago, I am on pace to double last months traffic by 06/14. I’d say this is a killer app. Thanks for sharing!

    Greg.

Jeff Johnson: thanks for share your resluts!

  3. Jeff,

As usual your information is terrific and most appreciated! Awesome plugin as well.

  4. nick says:

Awesom plugin, Im going to upgrade some of my old blogs that are on old WP versions and add the plug in.

    Many thanks

    Nick

  5. Kelly says:

Jeff, this is the single best plugin I have ever used on WordPress. I can’t believe how much increased traffic I have gotten from it. Thanks for making this available.

  6. Walter says:

Installed TG-SEO plugin 2.0, followed directions, but getting these error messages:

Can someone pls help me out of this jam?

Jeff Johnson: It looks like your host is blocking external access and/or some php.ini issues.

Either way your hosting company should be able to help.

  7. Taarak says:

Hi Jeff. Thanks for this. I was wondering if i delete the old version then wouldnt that also delete the SEO fields entered with all the old posts?

Jeff Johnson: Back up your blog first, and don’t delete anything, simply follow the upgrade instructions to upgrade it to the new version.

  8. Saul says:

What happens if I use the plugin as intended on a blog, and then deactivate & remove the plugin entirely? (For space-saving reasons.)

Would it change back any setting changes it made?

Is there some kind of on-going benefit the plugin provides? Because as I understand it, this plugin seems to do all of its’ work up front unless you come back later and hit the optimize button again and again.

    Thanks again,
    Saul

Jeff Johnson: version 2.o of traffic getting seo plugin allows you to reverse the changes made, or to deactivate certain components of it, and not others.

You don’t hit the optimize button over and over, you simply install it the first time, and then install the updates when issued.

  9. Yossi says:

    Hi,
I’ve been using your former version of the plugin for quite sometime with my WP 2.7 blog. Recently, I have been updated my blog to WP version 2.8.4 and by checking up your plugin setting I saw that the last button that recommendes on twiking the link has reappear.

upon pressing it I suddently started to receive internal errors (500) on few of my backoffice pages of my WP blog.

When deactivating your plugin it seems it works normal.

Now with the version 2.0 realease I tried to use it as well (with your upgrade instructions) but the plugin doesn’t even activate itself. (the intrenal error 500 apears again).

Any ideas how to solve this?

    Thanks in advance,
    Yossi Steinblatt

Jeff Johnson: Here is what my guys say:

“I’m not too sure I know exactly what button is being pressed to do this, but with WordPress in general, on some hosts, upgrading to PHP5 fixes a possible 500 internal server error. Sometimes is just a small piece of code to put in your .htaccess file. I would contact your webhost to see what version of PHP you are running and if not PHP5, upgrade it to PHP5. “

  10. Michael says:

When I try to install the lates version of this plugin I get this error

    Destination folder already exists. /home/content/w/e/b/webmav/html/wp-content/plugins/seo-blog/

Jeff Johnson: Here are the upgrade instructions http://www.undergroundtraininglab.com/tgsp-upgrade/

  11. Todd says:

Followed the instructions for 2.0.2 and received the following error…

The uploaded file could not be moved to /home/tjjichib/public_html/hidingundertables/wp-content/uploads/2009/08.

Didn’t receive this when I uploaded 2.0 last week. When 2.0.2 failed, I went to upload 2.0 again and got the same error.

Jeff Johnson: Here’s what my guy says: “A few possibilities…if they are upgrading, make sure they delete the old version of the plugin first. This can be done through WordPress admin, Plugins>Installed, then after the plugin is deactivated, click Delete (for the plugin). Once the plugin files have been deleted, then try to install the new version.

If it’s a new upload, make sure the directory permissions for wp-content/uploads is set to writable (typically 777 works).”

These installation instructions should also help: http://www.undergroundtraininglab.com/tgsp-install/

  12. Dear Jeff

    Thanks for the plug in.

There is a technical issue that I don’t have a solution for and I was hoping that your tech guy may have an answer for me.

The problem I am having is that I cannot activate the Akismet plug in. I get a message that I need my API Key and that I can obtain it from my profile. When I go there, to my profile there is no API Key, only this message
“Akismet is almost ready. You must enter your WordPress.com API key for it to work”
I tried to contact wordpress about the problem but couldn’t as the support form kept telling me That i didn’t have an account. However I do have a wordpress blog at this address http://www.mymasquerademasks.com/blog I’m hoping you may be able to give me a few pointers on how i can get the Akismet plugin to work on my blog.

    Thanks jeff

    Brett

Jeff Johnson: you need to register for the askimet key once by signing up for a free wordpress.com account. That blog you have isn’t the same as a free wordpress.com account.

  13. Darren says:

If I buy your course do I get the upgraded version of the SEO blog software immediately?
    Thanks

    Jeff Johnson: yes.

  14. Great Job Jeff, SEO plugin and your tips and freebies are great, Ive still not made a penny online! Im learning everyday though. Thanks

  15. reed says:

I would like to know more about the “done for you” site options. how much. what exactly do you get. Will I be able to have access to designer/programmer for questions and concerns. Very interested in working with you. Thanks for your consideration. Reed

Jeff Johnson: The sites are wordpress based. At this lower price point we have specific themes with dozens, if not hundreds, of variations to choose from that customized by our guys. Header graphics, banners, and installing ads, etc.

They configure it with our Traffic Getting SEO Plugin Professional version and they confgure it with your keywords, taglines, and the rest of the required info.

You communicate directly with our staff, all of whom work out of our home office here in Michigan.

The sites are great and I use them myself every single day but don’t expect a miracle at this low of a price point. They are great for publishing content, attracting leads, optin pages, sales letter based sites, etc. But they are not ecommerce sites with shopping carts and such.

  16. wahyu says:

It’s great. I want to use free traffic getting from you

  17. Gail says:

    Hi Jeff,
fantastic app… I want to know where to buy the upgraded version of this software I have seen you mention there is an upgrade but cannot find it anywhere to upgrade to it. I love it as it is but think the upgrade would be even betterer… if that is a word..
    Gail

Jeff Johnson: It’s not currently for sale but it will be a bonus for joining operation: quick start.

  18. Hi Jeff iam having problems i cannot find the plugin box on my wordpress?

Jeff Johnson: It’s on the left hand side of the dashboard when you sign into your blog; it’s just under “appearance”.

    http://www.undergroundtraininglab.com/tgsp-install/

  19. Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the upgrade, I enjoyed your previous version very much and I am very thankful for your new version. Thanks again!

  20. nesica says:

I have the same problem. I have just opened my new WordPress account. The plugin button is simply not there.

Jeff Johnson: Now I understand… that’s because it will not work on a “wordpress account”.

It is only for stand alone wordpress blogs that you host on your own server or hosting account.

  21. Earl says:

When can I get a version of your SEO traffic plugin which is compatible with the latest version of Word Press? Thanks, Earl

Jeff Johnson: the current version is compatible with the latest version of wordpress. We’ve been wp 2.8+ compatible for almost a year.

  22. Tim says:

    Jeff,
Thanks for the continued use of your plugin. I followed the upgrade instructions but unfortunately got this error as well:
The uploaded file could not be moved to /home/soverej5/public_html/straightupamerican/wp-content/uploads/2010/01.

Is there a specific file that needs to be moved to the uploads folder? Would moving that file manually work?
    Thanks for any assistance,
    Tim

Jeff Johnson: Check the verson of the TGSP download, should be 2.0.3 You may also manually install it as a plugin

    • Tim says:

Okay, here’s what I did. I unzipped the zip file and uploaded the ‘seo-blog’ folder to ‘plugins’ folder on the server. Activated the TGSP and it appears to be working now. Don’t know why this was necessary or why it seems to have worked, but there ya go.
      Thanks,
      Tim

    • Tim says:

Thanks Jeff. I did have the older version. Downloaded 2.0.3. Installed the plugin manually using ftp and it’s working great. Didn’t realize what I was missing in the Google Analyticator. Thanks again.
      Tim

  23. TrevorB says:

It would not load for me – WP 2.9

I had to unzip and FTP it as well

    Then it worked

Jeff Johnson: Check the verson of the TGSP download, should be 2.0.3

  24. Hi, this is an awesome software and I installed it on my blog.

I have some problems however. I am using a free wordpress template with certain javascriptcodes that automatically crops pictures and attaches them to the excerpts of posts on the home page as well as in the featured area.

    1. The pictures do not appear with the plugin

    2. When I changed back to my customized permalink structure, I was unable to access the posts so I reverted back to the default settings and was able to access the posts but the pictures did not show which makes the home page ugly.

Please do you have a solution for this?

The theme is free so I can not ask for assistance from the creator.
    Thanks.

Jeff Johnson: Funny.. you said “the theme is free so I can’t ask for assistance from the creator”.. isn’t my plugin free as well… and isn’t my time just as valuable as his? :)

First, you shouldn’t install the permalink changes if you have an existing blog unless you use the permalink migration plugin to remap.

Second, I’m not sure what would cause an issue with javascript and I don’t work with themes that use that functionalility so I really don’t have an answer for you.

Trial and error would be the way I solve it. But asking the them creator would definitely be the fastest and best way to fix it.

    • Sorry Jef I didn’t mean any harm. I did not express myself well. Your software is great no doubt about that. What I mean to say was that the creator of the theme stated clearly that since he was giving it out free those who download the theme should not ask him for set up. Instead he provides support for those who buy his premium themes.

I will try may hand to see what I can do about that.

      2. In case I revert to my old permalink structure will the links to my pages be retained since the urls will change as well?

      Thanks.

Jeff Johnson: Yes, if you choose to keep your existing permalink structure your links will work. If you “revert” since you changed them at one time they should still revert back. Easy enough to test. Make a backup, install the plugin and use the permalink settings, then disable the permalink changes (switch it back to what it was) and see if htey still work. If not, simply use your backup to restore the blog and don’t let the permalink changes occur at install the next time.

  25. This may be a silly question …..
Why is it so difficult to find the pro version?

And can you cookie the pop-over? it distracts from the site and I have already got the free software….

It s seem I have to click away from something I already have and can’t get to something I want……

Jeff Johnson: The pro version is not currently for sale, and the pop over is intended to “distract” to get the email… and it’s very effective in getting them.

But I’ll see if we can set it up for not showing if already on the list.

  26. alex says:

    hi,

i’m on your mailing list, but i cannot locate past email with ‘upgrade’ passwords for TGSeo plugin. is there another way to get the upgrade (password)? i’m sign up again on your mailing list through another email address of mine incidentally.

    thanx,
    alex

  27. Jeff, First off I wanna say, I ignored all messages to look at this plugin for months. When I finally did look at it, I can’t figure out how I did without it for so long, lol.

Anyway, there appears to be conflicts with several other plugins and even the affinity theme from rockettheme.com which Jakub was kind enough to help me fix. It turns out that your plugin may be using jquery in conflict mode.

Anyway, please read Jakob’s msg below, it helped me get the affinity theme running but now I can’t run your plugin ( not nice )

    From Jakob …
It looks like one of your plugins that is working both in the frontend and backend is causing a JavaScript framework conflict. By default jQuery present in the WordPress is used in the no-conflict mode which lets it to work fine with other JavaScript frameworks – like the one we are working with – MooTools, but sometimes plugins are adding their own copy of jQuery without this no-conflict mode and that can cause troubles.
Can I ask you to disable all plugins and check if your site is working properly ? This will make us sure about that one of the plugins is causing problems.

I did what Jakob asked, and sure enough its this traffic getting plugin that is conflicted.

    • Jeff Johnson says:

Thanks, I’ll pass it along to my guys and see if they feel it’s an issue.

We use it with rocket themes as well , but there are ten billion different combinations of things than can cause unique issues.

    • Jeff Johnson says:

It doesn’t look like it’s a TGSP issue. Here’s what my guy says about it: “I don’t believe that TGSP is the cause. We do use jQuery, but it is run in no conflict mode, which shouldn’t cause any problems with other javascript. In addition, TGSP is only present in the admin panel. There is no front end presence for TGSP. So because of this, if there were any problems, they would only occur on the TGSP Plugins page.”

  28. I’m not very technical and just try do “exactly” as the experts say. So I followed you as far as I could in reinstalling the new version of tgsp when this error came up during the upload process:

Incompatible archive PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature

how can I overcome this obstacle? Thanks

    • Jeff Johnson says:

It could be a memory allocation issue or a problem with your php.ini needing size udjustments, or a corrupted file. Please have your hosting company take a look at it for you.

  29. This is one of the best plugin to have! I have tried a few other free one but this work the best.

  30. When I tried to log into one of my blogs this morning I got this error message “The file /home/content/m/f/r/mfreewman6/html/wp-content/plugins/seo-blog/core.php is corrupted. ”
I searched the error on google and found a handfull of other sites with the same problem. How can I recover from this error?
    Thanks.

    • Jeff Johnson says:

Our best guess is that the encrypted files were modified and IonCube can’t decode them anymore. Sometimes in the WP Plugin editor the end of the file will get cut off, meaning that opening the file and clicking update could cut off the end of the file.

So you could ask your host for help or try this yourself:

      To fix:

      First… Back up your blog!

      Then…

      FTP in.
      Delete wp-content/plugins/seo-blog/
Reinstall the plugin from the original download.

  31. Kim says:

Thanks for this amazing Plugin, you help me a lot..
    THANKS AGAIN!!!

  32. JM says:

Thanks for this great plugin Jeff. Just one question. I upgraded the plugin to 2.1 with no issues. WP was still on version 2.9 at the time I upgraded the plugin. I have since upgraded to WP 3.0 and had no issues. Today I noticed when I click on the Traffic Getting link inside my WP instead of taking me to a page that shows me how well my site is optimized and any tips for improvement it tells me “Traffic Getting Requires WordPress 2.7 or Greater” then it gives me a couple of links where I can upgrade to WP 2.7 and latest version of WP. What can I do to straighten this out and get my Traffic Getting plugin running properly again?

    Thanks in Advance,
    JM

    • Jeff Johnson says:

Are you using the newest version of TGSP? It shold be version 2.1

If not, please download it; emails with the new passwords were sent to the list on 5/24

      • JM says:

        Jeff,
Yes, I upgraded to version 2.1 when WP was still using WP2.9 and had not yet released WP 3.0.
Once WP 3.0 was released, I upgraded to 3.0. It was after this upgrade that I began to get the message I posted above.

        • Jeff Johnson says:

My guys have tried to duplicate your error and don’t seem to be having an issue.

          Here’s what they did:

          1. Installed the latest version of TGSP 2.1 on a WordPress blog, version 2.9.2
          2. Activated TGSP, checked to make sure it was working.
          3. Upgraded WordPress to version 3.0
          4. Went to TGSP page
          5. Installed and activated a recommended plugin
          6. Applied blog tweaks.

          • JM says:

Yes, I did the same thing and applied the blog tweaks and everything was fine for a few days. Then, after a few days, when I clicked on Traffic Getting to see my blog optimization meter and if there were any tips etc. I got the message:

Traffic Getting Requires WordPress 2.7 or greater!
You must upgrade WordPress to 2.7 or greater to use this plugin. Please remember to backup your blog’s database and files before upgrading your blog.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results. Thanks for the quick support by the way. Any help is appreciated.

  33. Smith says:

    Jeff,
I have also experienced the same thing as JM. What I believed solved my issue was downloading the plugin from your site (well the email about version 2.1) and reloading through the installation tutorial.

    JM, I hope this helps!

  34. JM says:

For what it’s worth, I installed the Traffic Getting plugin to another WordPress 3.0 website I own and I get the same message – That I need to update to WP2.7 or higher. I then reinstalled WP 3.0 update and still no change. So, not an isolated incident.

  35. Hi Jeff,

    Thanks for your software!

[1] could you give simple step-by-step on how to backup? [the instructions on WP site are too techie] also, do i do it from my cpanel , or…?

[2] i will be upgrading from your software’s previous version… how would I use the new ‘permalink structure’ so my previous permalinks will all work ok?

    Thx,
    Izzy

    • Jeff Johnson says:

Sorry, but the only tutorial we have for backing up wp is from their own site. Your hosting company may be able to help.

TGSP either allows you to not install the new permaling structure durung installation or it has a 301 plugin that should automatically redirect your old permalinks to the new one..

Make sure you test them after the changes… and make sure you back up your site first so you can always reverse the changes!

      • Thanks Jeff 4 speedy reply – amazing support here!

if the backup can be done via my cpanel then I could involve my hosting, right?

implied is that the NEW permalink structure is better for seo, is that correct? if so, I would prefer to try it out that way… (what part of my site do i need to backup for this purpose?)

        Thx again,
        Izzy

        • Jeff Johnson says:

Sorry, Just got back from a long vacation!

Yes, your hosting company shoudl be able to offer help with backing up your wp blog.

          Back up the entire blog.

  36. izzy says:

    Hi Jeff,

…in ‘wp backup tutorials’, the WP site gives 14 steps!! to update to WP 3.0… its really above my head to even prepare to install your software…:(

…really, whats if I just used the automated upgrade option in my wp-admin… wouldn’t that just work fine?? [would i have to do all that file deleting and risk messing up my blog etc...?]

…as thats whats stopping me being able to install your software…

    Thanks for any advice…
    Izzy

    • Jeff Johnson says:

You can use the Automatic Upgrade, but first you should make sure you back up your blog in case something goes wrong. Install a plugin like DB Backup to save a copy of your database, then download the contents of your wp-content folder. After that, you should be ready to upgrade automatically.

  37. izzy says:

    Hi Jeff,

(my previous post questions are still relevant, but) I did it on a leap of trust (upgrading to WP3.0 – i think from a before WP 2.7 version) …

now I get this message: “Traffic Getting Requires WordPress 2.7 or greater!”

So , I tried a number of times reinstalling WP3.0 AND TGSP (de+reactivating etc. as per your website instructions) still to no avail…

Thanks any help to get it working,
    Izzy

  38. JM says:

Thanks Jeff. Looks like the beta upgrade did the trick so far :-)

  39. Ransy says:

    Hi Jeff
I Automatic Upgraded my wp from 2.8 to 3.0, and I did back up of my blog before I upgraded to 3.0. but I am not sure if the file format of the back up is right kelmorco_wp02_wp_20100718_686.sql.gz
But if it is what is my nest step?
Do I delete all the Traffic Pluins and install again?

    Thanks
    Ransy

  40. Ransy says:

I forgot to say that after I upgraded I get these message
You must upgrade WordPress to 2.7 or greater to use this plugin. Please remember to backup your blog’s database and files before upgrading your blog.

  41. I upgraded my WP to 3.0.1 with hesitation. With TGSP 2.1 I had the errors a lot of people were receiving. So I went ahead and deleted TGSP 2.1, upgraded to WP to 3.0.1 then uploaded and activated my TGSP 2.1.1 (the new version). It didn’t work, I had a header error when activating the plugin. OH NO! Then I thought I better look at the instruction again and sure enough I forgot to delete the SI Captcha plugin. Listen folks save yourself a headache. Do what Jeff says and follow the directions it makes things so much easier. I will for sure the next upgrade! Thanks Jeff!
