Hi Jeff-
I have sent you an email reply about my concerns.
I would like to ask you if its possible to fast forward to see how these sites are built — ( I mean what software you need to be able to post the data feeds .
Thanks for the great content on all your videos
Hamant
Jeff Johnson says: using RSS feed and data feeds to build your blogs isn’t tough, but it takes some knowledge on how to do it.
And that is way beyond the scope of a blog post.
My Affiliate Traffic Machine Pro (ATM Pro) data feed software is what we use for sites like this Digital Camera Reviews
ATM PRO has video tutorials on how to use data feeds with wordpress blogs:

Thank you for the cool blog software Jeff!
This is my first time working with wordpress. It was very easy to install.
I noticed on your example site for Digital Camera Reviews, you have Adsense and Amazon.com ads. I can’t figure out how to put these ads on my new blog.
I assume I would put the Adsense code in the HTML under “Theme Editor”, but I’m not quite sure where.
Thanks for your help!
Jeff Johhnson says: We actually rotate those amazon and adsense ads (along with our cj.com, linkshare, custom banners, etc) from one of several openx ad server networks we have set up on several dedicated servers
openx serves up millions and millions of ads per month without breaking a sweat… and it’s free!
We’ve tested several adsense plug ins for wordpress and we even developed our own in-house for our clients.
But none of them are powerful enough to do what we need them to do; test multiple offers across hundreds of websites from one central location.
If we find an ad that works we simply plug it into our adserver and roll it out to any sites in a related market.
The easiest way for you to show ads on your blog is simply insert the code in the theme php templates.
Here’s how:
Click on the “Presentation” section of your blog control panel.
Then click on “theme editor”.
Then choose one of the .php files you see on the right hand side of the page (sidebar.php, header.php, etc.).
Then simply insert the code into the php file where you would like it to appear on the page and save your work.
All it takes is some trial and error work but you’ll eventually find the right placement spots in the php files.

Hi Jeff,
Just wondering how the content in the affiliate data feed based blogs are unique?
Do they have any chance of ranking up in the search engine in 2008.
Jeff Johnson says: It’s how you “mix and match” the content that matters. If all you do is build a blog with a data feed “as is” you probably won’t rank high.
We mix in articles, unique rss feeds, etc with our data feeds to make them “unique enough” to grab free traffic.
But that’s not all you have to do.. you have to promote the site to get more traffic.
Incoming links are the key for any site, including 100% unique content sites.
If the engines don’t find links to your site the traffic will not come.. no matter how unique the content is.

Hi Jeff,
Once I’ve installed your SEO blog software, can I use any Wordpress template with it? Or does it have to be a specific template theme? I notice your SEO software has 7 different themes. I am thinking about using the Fadtastic theme (not in your SEO kit). If not, I will go with one of those themes you have in your SEO kit.
Thanks so much, Martin
Jeff Johnson says: My guys tell me that if you back up your database first, and then install the new theme, and then reinstall your database backup you should be fine. But I’m not the “mechanic”.. I just hire people and tell them what to build so it gets more traffic.
I do know it is possible to screw up our setting by changing the themes incorrectly so…
So I’d back up your database before you make any changes
Jim Knippenberg // May 2, 2008 at 1:10 am
Hi, and thanks for the software and videos. If I install the software on a blog I already have built, will it wipe out all my posts I already have on there? Thanks, Jim
Jeff Johnson says: My resident techie tells me that you need to back up your database from the old blog first, install the new SEO blog version, and then import/reinstate your database backup from the old blog.
But there are no guarantees… pleas back everything up…. and the best thing to do would be to simply build new sites with the SEO blog software instead.
Or add and configure the plugins by hand to your old blog.
But you’ll never be able to fully replicate the tweaks we’ve done for you; code level hacks and such.
But my guess is you could come close enough to not worry about it.
Ian // May 3, 2008 at 8:12 am
Hi Jeff,
I’m interested primarily (i think) in datafeed sites, which is the recommended software ATM or your WP software, or is ATM based on WP?
Thanks
Ian
Jeff Johnson says: Affiliate Traffic Machine Pro is a software program that extracts keywords and content from data feeds to use in other applications (site building) plus it outputs data feeds in a structured format that can be used with WP to build data feed driven blogs.
ATM Pro is NOT based on WP… it’s a stand alone application that can output structured data feeds using the included templates, or you can customize the templates yourself.
The structured data feed output from ATM Pro can be popped into wordpess to build the sites and update the posts on “auto pilot”.
Very easy to do and tutorials are included.

Hello Jeff,
I’ve watched the videos and want to use a WP theme that I have. Since my blog is on Blogger, this will be a new blog so no worries about messing up anything.
My question to you is strictly business related. You outsource the ‘heavy lifting’, do you ever recommend people you work with for this? I need someone to move my Blogger blog to my new host and upgrade it to a WP theme without loosing my archives.
Thought I’d ask because your people seem to be very good at what they do (and so do you, by the way!)
Jeff Johnson says: Sorry, but my personal staff does this type of work for me and they are just too busy to hire out at this time.
Wordpress has a blogger import utility and if you search google for “convert blogger to wordpress” or “import blogger into wordpress” you’ll find tons of tutorial.
If I were you I’d find a good tutorial and then contact the author and try to hire him/her to handle the job… I do that kind of outsoucing all the time.

I’m curious why you don’t include the cutline theme like you have here in your install package. Isn’t the cutline theme really the one best optimized for seo like you are talking about.

Each theme requires some testing and tweaking on our end.
There are thousands of themes to choose from in the market.

Hi Jeff et.al,
First of all, thanks to you and your team for making this available for everybody.
I just want to know if I can do the usual additions of plug ins and stuff.
I’ve read in one of the comments that changing the themes may screw things up.
How about adding plug ins and changing picture headers or simple stuff like than?
Anthony Montalbano says:
We’ve spent a lot of time and testing our blogs to find a series of plugins that amount to our optimizations. So naturally adding any plugins to the current configurations may or may not make a difference to the optimization. Since we do not support any changes beyond the basic install of our package any further changes, adding themes, plugins, and modifying picture headers would be done at your own risk.
Ria // May 24, 2008 at 7:17 pm

Hey Guys!
Please articulate the advantages in using your SEO Blog software instead of the latest WP and the same sort of WP plugins (as those listed in yours)?
Hypnotically Yours,
BLAZE
Jeff Johnson says: My free seo blog software has a customized installation routine that allows you to quickly and easily tweak it for seo friendliness.
The plugins are tested by us to improve indexabiity and rankings.
We also include our own custom plugins from time to time, but not always; we regularly update the package.
In addition, there are custom code hacks and pre-set configurations that improve the seo nature of the blog.
You could do most of it by hand but it could take hours for some, especially if you have no idea what settings to tweak, which plugins work best, and making sure they all work together (believe me, plugins don’t always play nice with each other.
Most importantly! I’ve been doing this for years.
And I have hundreds of blogs that I use for testing.

Do i have to overwrite the files i already have on my ftp whit this folder i downloaded from here..It looks like its the same folder…or do i need an new brand new database??
Anthony Montalbano says: If you are upgrading then you would overwrite all files except the wp-config.php and proceed with the upgrade routine. Just a note, if your Wordpress version is newer than 2.5.1, do not upgrade. The upgrade only works for older versions of Wordpress (pre 2.5.1). If you are starting a new blog, make sure the location where you are uploading the files is empty and create a new database for it. Here are a couple tutorials I created for upgrading and installing http://www.undergroundtraininglab.com/2/seo-wordpress-installation/ and http://www.undergroundtraininglab.com/42/upgrade-wordpress/
sindre // Nov 28, 2008 at 1:27 pm
How do you custemize these themes? how do you put up adsens on it?..afilliates banners??
Anthony Montalbano says: Customizing themes requires some understanding on how themes work inside of Wordpress. In short, if you go to your blog’s admin, then Design, then Theme Editor you can edit files in your theme. Typically you would want to edit files such as header.php, footer.php, single.php, and index.php. Unfortunately adding adsense, affiliate banners and more to Wordpress blogs, in further detail, is something that we teach to our clients. Hopefully this gives you some direction if you are interested to learning this on your own.

Hi Jeff,
I have an existing WP blog with about 20 posts, and a theme customized to match my landing page for PPC (which matches a merchants layout).
How should I best integrate your SEO theme?
Are the tweaks in the WP core code itself, or primarily in the themes and plug ins?
Thanks!
Anthony Montalbano says: Our blog software is a modification to the WP core and is designed to be implemented with a new blog, since all of the optimization is done on the install. It is not a theme, it is actually a modified version of Wordpress. If you are looking to update your blog with our software, I suggest exporting all of your posts from your current blog, downloading your current theme, installing the new blog software, uploading your original theme (activating it), import all your posts to your new blog. (Just a note: Make sure to do a database backup before make any changes such as this)

Hi Jeff,
I am interested in your software and have a couple of ne blogs I plan on setting up. However after doing some research and finding that your digital camera site is not indexed in Google I am having second thoughts.
Could you explain why it is you are using an un-indexed site as an example site?
Jeff C
P.S. I love the look and layout of the camera site.
Jeff Johnson says: the digital camera blog isn’t in google for one of two reasons… it was either taken out because my competitors told google it publishes 100% on auto pilot… which I know for a fact they did on several occassions.
Or because it is one of our test blogs and some of the plugins we were testing didn’t work well together and the site became too hard to index… which is why we rebuilt it.
You have to understand that anything I show you guys is pretty much a toss away.
ten thousand people know it’s mine and try to knock it off, or report it to google because they don”t think it’s fair that I can get traffic so easily why they have to work at it so hard; seriously, you should see the emails they send me
So they are test sites… they are the sites that we test our new plugins for that we use in our free seo blog software, or our seo blog software professional version.
we also test new promotional strategies on them.
ANd all this testing trickles down to my clients… and my list to a point. For example, I hammer my clients about not using 100% auto-published content, RSS feeds and data feeds on their money sites.
This style of site is a feeder site… it is disposable and my business is not dependent upon it.
I also tell them quite clearly to not use rss feeds for content on their money sites.
I tell them not to do it unless they are willing to lose the site… never use it on your money site.
It’s in all of my training material.
Therefore, any site I make public isn’t important to my business.
But there are several important things to remember…
I share what to do and what not to do with you.. I do the testing for you.
and that site hasn’t been in google for months but still generates clicks and revenue almost every day and gets traffic from sources other than google and my list.
Google still shows adsense ads on it so they aren’t completely opposed to it.
Google adsense and traffic isn’t the only game in town.
More importantly, for every one site I lose in google I have a hundred sites just like it that continue to do just fine in google, and get hundreds, even thousands of visitors a day from non-google sources.
It all revolves around my feeder site and money site strategies I’ve been teaching for almost 4 years now… and continues to work like magic.
the layout looks great, though…. and you can build one just like it with your own content… which is what I try to convince my clients to do… but I’m obligated to teach them how to put their feeder sites on auto pilot., too. That’s what they pay me for

Our policy is strict adherence to attribution guidelines.
However, some people, such as myself, allow others to remove the links from the themes.
And in other situations we buy the theme itself, make a donation, or even simply request permission to remove them.

This comment ultimately refers to comments 35, 28, & 41 on the topic of themes, how many are included in your package, and so forth.
I believe I’ve completed all of your install steps properly, for what it’s worth, on 2/21/09 there were 5 in the package I downloaded / uploaded: default, classic, beach house, glossyblue SEO, and pride SEO … not 7 nor 3.
That’s a non-issue for me anyway, as the essence of my question is about use of other themes.
Thanks Anthony for your response in comment 38. That helps. Your SEO package is the modified WordPress installation, not a theme. I see now that I can use any WP theme (with no stated SEO-friendly claim) that I wish with your free software and presumably … gain all the SEO advantages of your software.
Question lead in:
The “other theme” I would like to use makes SEO-friendly/optimized claims. I believe that what I downloaded from theme is only the modified theme (and not a modified WP blog software install).
Question 1:
To your knowledge, is there anything about an “SEO-optimized” WP theme from anyone else … provided it’s an uploaded theme after the proper new installation of your software, that causes problems, negates the effects of core modifications you did, etc.?
Question 2 (conversely):
Or … can someone else’s SEO tweaks on only a theme, when added to your software only help achieve even greater postive outcomes with respect to SEO?
Thanks so much!!
Jeff Johnson says: IGlad you enjoy it!
t is possible for other seo themes, plugins, etc to either positively and/or negatively affect my free seo blog software and traffic getting seo plugin.
Too many variations to even consider tracking
So the answer is “yes” to all of your questions… both good and bad things could result in your scenarios.
Gary // Feb 21, 2009 at 7:33 pm
PS: I did have one more question …
The video nor install post directions mention the wp-config.php (pre-upload) alterations. Only the dbname, dbusername, dbpassword alterations were mentioned. However, what about?

WP-CONFIG.PHP

// Change each KEY to a different unique phrase. You won’t have to remember the phrases later, so make them long and complicated. You can visit http://api.wordpress.org/secret-key/1.1/

define(‘AUTH_KEY’, ‘longdifferentphrase1′);
define(‘SECURE_AUTH_KEY’, ‘longdifferentphrase2′);define(‘LOGGED_IN_KEY’, ‘longdifferentphrase3′);
I went ahead and made these alterations too. I seem to be fine; everything seems to be working.

When I select login from the main home page and enter admin plus the passwrod e-mailed to me I still just get a blank screen. I requested a new paswword and tried that as well and get the same results.
Suggestions??

Oops should have said “newbie” instead of “hewbie”

GOOD news…I have been working with Tech support at my hosting site and though they previously said it was a problem on my end they have now found a problem, fixed it and the software is working.

Hi there Jeff,
Love your site and the info.
Just watched “Changing a WP theme” and it shows 7 themes pre-installed on your SEO pack which have downloaded.
I have looked at this and I don’t have any extra themes, just the ones I have uploaded
Please advise.
Thanks.
Robert.
Jeff Johnson says: Those “theme” videos are for the Free SEO Blog Software which is no longer available. However, thousands of people still use it so I’ve left the videos up for them.
The Traffic Getting SEO Plug in the newest software I’m offering for free… and is a plugin so it doesn’t include themes… doens’t need them.

I’m very excited about your plug-in! Thank you!
I’ve loaded it into a new wordpress blog but I cannot find any of the themes. When I click on “dashboard” the top menu that shows up in your video is not there that “Design” should be one of the choices. Could you help me with this?
Thank you!
Judy
Jeff Johnson: I”m not sure what you mean… but if you mean “theme” you can use any theme you’d like.

I’m sorry for being unclear. But it seems that there isn’t a theme(s) in my download. None to choose from except the three from wordpress.
I would also like to ask where to get the banner ads, affiliate program ads, etc to install?
Thank you so much!
Judy
Jeff Johnson: This is a wp theme that installs in a wordpress blog. You can use any theme you’d like .
Please see the installation instructions for directions on settting up wordpress.
As for the ads, the banners, etc…
That’s your choice. We don’t force you to use any particular program.

hi, I had one problem with your plugin because it didn’t installed any theme, just the Traffic Getting. Is there some incompatibility with wordpress in another langugage?
Jeff Johnson: No themes are installed by TGSP. Any language should work.
Marcio Bueno // Jun 22, 2009 at 6:33 pm
I just read the comment before mine… It is the same problem… In the video it was said that with the instalation of the plugin 7 themes were added too, but it didn’t happened with my instalation neither in the Judy Coates…
Jeff Johnson: You are watching the old videos for our old software that is no longer distributed.
Traffic gettings seo plugin does not install themes.

It appears from the change theme Video you are now using WordPress.com not WP.org for content management. I was previously told you used WP.org. Best?
Jeff Johnson: Really not sure what you are referring to. You can’t use our traffic getting seo plugin with wp.com, so we wouldn’t be using it for the TGSP tutorials unless they are simply talking about themes that you can use our your own hosted blog.
once again, I prefer hosting your own worpress blog. But I certainly appreciate the use of wp.com host blogs since they can and do rank well. They just aren’t as flexible.

Hello Jeff and people.
SOS
I have a question that i walk with quite a while. Why do have many websites the same theme/layout. The theme with the RED letters and same structure. Many sites have this sort of layout and with al the info on one page (subcibe option etc), why is it? And do you now were i can get a theme like that, i cant find it anywhere.
Kind regards and thank you.
Jeff Johnson: That’s a standard one page sales letter. Keeping your buyers on one page is more effective in conversions, and that red lettering has been tested for me to result in higher conversions when used for headlines and in our banner ads.
Sorry, I don’t konw of any one particular place to get that sytle page, but many web designers can easly mock one up for you for a small fee.

humm I thing you need to recode the plugin too old for new google algorithm
Jeff Johnson: 6 years ago they said blogs would never last as an SEO tool… and they wre completely wrong. Not worried about the new updates … if changes are needed, I’ll make them.

Jeff Johnson: You’ll find more than 75 videos and such here on the blog on on my youtube channel, I’d say those are a good place to start for a solid overview of traffic and affiliate marketing.
