One of the benefits of having a large staff is that they help me produce great content for my coaching clients… that makes my life much easier and it also makes it much nicer for my clients… my clients get help from my staff for free (well, not free if they are paying clients but then again… paying clients get a whole hell of a lot more of this kind of stuff as part of their deal).
One of “my guys”, Anthony Montalbano, has really learned how to tweak the hell out of the basic wordpress installation package.
I just tell him what I’d like wordpress to do from a “Get More Traffic/SEO” standpoint and he gets to work figuring it out and then makes it happen.
And then my other guys build sites with it, I test it, tweak it, and then tell Anthony what changes need to be made… and he gets to work on improving our SEO blog software for me… and my clients.
The really advanced version takes quite a bit more training and time to install (but is worth the extra effort)
So I had him put together a free (less complicated) version of my SEO Blog Software for readers of this blog and my mailing list.
I also had Anthony put together this step-by-step “how to install wordpress” tutorial and a short video for you.

Very Important! Don’t updgrade your current wordpress blog with our Free SEO Blog Software unless you are certain that your wp blog is an older version than ours.
Our Free SEO Blog Software currently uses wp version 2.5.1. So if your current wp blog version is greater than 2.5.1… do not update it with our Freee SEO Blog Software.

Here’s what you need to do to install your SEO highly optimized blog package:
To install this custom blog WordPress package your web host needs a couple of things:- PHP version 4.3 or greater
- MySQL version 4.0 or greater

1. Create a MySQL® database
a. WordPress runs on a MySQL® database. If you already have a database setup, skip to Step 2. To setup a MySQL® database, first login to your site’s cPanel.
b. Locate the MySQL® Databases icon in the grid of icons and click on it.
c. To create a new database, type a desired name for the database in the field labeled New Database. The name should not contain any spaces or symbols in it. Click [Create Database]. (Save the database name for Step 2)
d. The database has been created. Click [Go Back].
e. Now that you’ve created a database, you have to add a user to access it. To add a user, locate the Create Users section and type in a desired username and password. Make sure to use a long cryptic password. Click [Create User]. (Save the username and password for Step 2)
f. The new database user has been created. Click [Go Back].
g. Now that you’ve created a database user, you have to link the database user to the database. To add the user to the database, refer to the section labeled Add Users To Your Database. Select the user you just created in the drop-down box labeled User. Select the database you just created in the drop-down box labeled Database. Click [Add User To Database] at the bottom of the section.
h. You’re done creating the database! You will use the database name, username, and password you just created in this step, in Step 2.
2. Download the SEO Optimized WordPress Package.
a. To get a Free copy of the SEO Optimized WordPress package go to http://www.undergroundtraininglab.com/main.php and signup to receive the free software.
b. Confirm your email address by clicking on the link in the email sent to you.
c. Read the instructions in the 2nd email on where to download the package.
d. After you have downloaded the package, extract it to your desktop. (If you do not have any extraction software, download and install WinRar here)
3. Setting up the Configuration
a. Open the wordpress folder you extracted from the download.
b. Locate and open the wp-config.php file in your preferred HTML editor. (If you do not have an HTML editor, you can open it in Notepad.)
c. Enter your MySQL database name, username, and password that you created in Step 1 in the appropriate fields. Save the wp-config.php file.
4. Uploading the Blog Package.
a. Open your FTP client and upload the entire contents of the wordpress folder to the location where you want your blog. (If you do not have a FTP client download and install Filezilla here)
5. Install Your Blog
a. Open your web browser and navigate to the location you uploaded your blog package. The installation screen will appear with a form similar to the one below.
b. Type in the title of your blog and enter your email address of the administrator of the blog. (Make sure the email address is correct, because your blog’s password will be emailed there.)
c. Click on the button [Click Here to Install SEO optimized…]
d. Save your blog’s Username and Password and click on [Log In]
e. Type your Username and Password that you got from your previous step in the login screen and click [Log In].
f. After logging in you should be brought to your blog’s Dashboard similar to the screen shot below:
g. Finally you need to verify that your permalink structure has been updated properly. To do this click on [Settings] in the top right corner, then click on [Permalinks]. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen, if you do NOT see the message below then the permalink structure has been updated properly.
| If your .htaccess file were writable, we could do this automatically, but it isn’t so these are the mod_rewrite rules you should have in your .htaccess file. Click in the field and press CTRL + a to select all. |
h. If you do get the message above you have to change the write access levels of the .htaccess file in the root directory of your blog. To do this, go back to your FTP client and right-click the .htaccess file and choose File Attributes. Type in “666” for the Numeric Value and click [OK].
i. Repeat step g. to verify that the error message has gone away.
j. Finally, click on [Visit Site] in the top left of your WordPress Dashboard to see your newly installed blog!
k. Your new blog should look similar to the one below:
l. At this point you have successfully completed the installation of your new highly customized SEO WordPress blog!
