Not as useful as it use to be, but still a good source of targeted traffic when the bookmarks themselves rank high in the engines.

Jeff,

Thanks for being honest and real. Was really hung up on getting the the SB thing just right until reading your writing to NOT make such a big deal about it. Do a few and move on :) Bigger fish to fry.

Thanks again.

Hello Jeff,

Great tutorial but i have one question. At step 5 : "He took the video page at youtube and myspace and bookmark it..." you mean only the video from youtube and myspace or I can do that with the others video pages (from dailymotion , revver, viddler etc...). And after bookmar it it`s necessary to ping all the video urls or not?

<strong>Jeff Johnson: It can be used for all videos. Creating incoming links to your videos from blogs is also good.</strong>

A few comments on the topic:

1. Create accounts at bookmarking & web 2.0 sites using your blog/site name or keyword. Add links (some allow html) and keywords in the profile. Don't use these accounts to bookmark "all" of your own content (see #2 however).

2. At many BM sites if a URL has already been submitted you just give it a vote/thumbs up/digg/stumble/etc. You can add unique comments however. For this reason it is important to bookmark your own content to ensure the tags and description are good

3. If you want ten accounts at each BM site you only need 10 emails. There is no issue using the same email at multiple BM sites.

4. I got banned from tumblr and propeller. I set up multiple accounts the same day using the same password. My advice is to use different passwords and do it over a several days and see #5

5. If you don't have a proxy go to different coffee shops with wi-fi to set up accounts and to submit

6. Don't submit too many URL's from one domain, submit other people's content and "vote" on existing content don't just "submit" content. Only submitting is synonymous with spamming.

7. Used properly, the popular BM sites (digg, stumbleupon, etc.) can drive traffic not just provide links so spend some time learning how they work and how you can maximize them

<strong>Jeff Johnson: My best advice is not to spend too much time on this stuff. Work on producing great content, getting high quality incoming links, and selling a product via affiliates :)</strong>
