Jeff truly is the go to guy.

I just thought I’d share this….there is a cool little plug in for wordpress that publishes your blog in an iphone compatible format.

I’ve only played about with it a little bit but if you’re posting youtube vids to your blog this is probably a very good option to consider.

You have to do a bit of site tweaking but it’s pretty cool and it looks like they’re updating soon so it may include the ipad as well.

I don’t know of any particular “off the shelf” software.

You could do it with a combination of html 5, video tags, h.264, php and javascript…. which pretty much means you’d need to hire a programmer.

There’s a lot more to it than that but I’m not a programmer so I’ll leave it to the experts

Jeff, what would this software be? What’s it called? I agree that tons of data access you’re stuck paying for when people just download rather than bothering to watch really sucks, and would rather at least look into this software alternative.

I’m tremendously glad that you’ve addressed this issue, as no one’s really been able to give me answers on this until now.

Yes, you can offer a mp4 download for your visitors to access if they are using an ipad/iphone. Or you can use auto-sensing software that will serve up the proper format.

The problem is that people other than just ipad users will download your video and I’ve seen a terabyte of data access during a launch when offering a download alternative… not cool.
